March 8th is not just about celebrating women. Today and beyond, it is about continuing the fight for women's rights, everywhere in the world. First, we must be aware of our privileges and ensure that as consumers, our purchases and actions do not contribute to the oppression of other women. We must recognize that there are significant impacts related to the fashion industry.
In which country do the fibers used to make textiles grow? Who makes our clothes? Under what conditions? Who is at the head of the fashion companies we consume?
Today and beyond, it is important to use our rights and privileges and take action for those who are fighting for their own human rights. With a view to a sustainable and equal future, it is about celebrating our power to be part of change. Fortunately, there are many women who are leading inspiring businesses and acting as agents of change within this industry.
Among many others, here is my top 3, which I invite you to discover.
Les belles bobettes , makes very comfortable underwear from textile waste and end of rolls of fabric abandoned by the fashion industry.
Midnight to Five is a cooperative of women who transform abandoned clothes into beautiful, trendy accessories.
Mont loup manufactures fabrics in an ethical and responsible way, constantly finding new solutions to reduce the ecological footprint as much as possible.
As if it were possible to promote fashion, without compromising our planet, and the people who live on it.
